TERMS
Terms of sale and of use.
They apply to every order placed through this site.
The maison
Romeo Gandon makes leather bags with hand-shaped vine-wood handles, in Paris, to order. The identity of the publisher and of the host is set out in the legal notices.
The pieces
Every piece is made to order. The leather is the same across a piece, but no two vine-wood handles are alike: differences of grain, curve, colour and marking are inherent to the material and are not defects. Photographs on this site show pieces that have been made, not the one you will receive.
Prices
Prices are shown on each piece, in euros, taxes included. Shipping is stated separately; outside the European Union, import duties and local taxes are payable by the recipient.
The price confirmed to you in writing before an order is the one that applies to that order, whatever the site shows afterwards.
How an order is formed
Sending a request commits you to nothing and takes no payment. We answer within 48 hours with availability, lead time and price.
An order exists only once you have accepted that written proposal and we have confirmed it. Payment terms are stated in the proposal.
Lead time and delivery
The lead time is confirmed with the price. Risk passes to you when the piece is handed over by the carrier. If delivery is late beyond thirty days from the agreed date, you may cancel the order and be refunded in full.
Withdrawal and returns
Fourteen days from delivery for a piece bought at a distance; no withdrawal for a piece made to your own specifications, as French law provides. The full conditions, and how to return a piece, are on the shipping page.
Guarantees
Every piece carries the legal guarantee of conformity (articles L217-3 and following of the French Consumer Code) and the guarantee against hidden defects (articles 1641 and following of the French Civil Code), whatever commercial gesture we may make in addition.
Liability
We answer for the pieces we make and for the obligations set out here. We are not liable for normal ageing of the leather and the wood, for damage caused by misuse, by a repair carried out elsewhere, or by prolonged exposure to water, heat or sun.
Using the site
You may browse and share this site freely. You may not copy, reproduce or exploit its content commercially, nor attempt to reach the private areas of the site or disturb its working.
Personal data
The data you give us is used only to answer you and to fulfil an order. The privacy policy sets out everything in detail.
Complaints and mediation
Write to the atelier first: most things are settled in a few messages.
If we cannot agree, you may, as a consumer, call on a consumer mediator free of charge within one year of your written complaint. The European Commission also provides an online dispute resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.

Governing law and language
These terms are governed by French law. Nothing here removes the protection a consumer has under the law of the country they live in.
They are published in English and in French. Where the two differ, the French version prevails for customers resident in France.
